It is also The final Round of the Highly successful Pacenotes ANICC 2wd Rally championship, with a lot of classes still to be decided there should be some interesting battles on the stages

NADMC will once again be using the the Camlough Mountain Stage as the opener, which received high reviews for competitors when used for the Mourne Rally earlier in the year after having had major resurfacing work and a lot of forestry clearance done. This is followed by the demanding “Big” Gullion test, which always provides a good challenge.

Clive and Richard were placed as high as 8th over all at one stage but an over shoot at a junction on stage 3 and brake and clutch trouble on stages 4 and 5 cost them time which dropped them to 14th. After a service the Crozier Motor sport Engineering team replaced the clutch and brakes, witch meant Clive could again fight for that top 10 finished he wanted, but on the second last stage they had another over shoot costing them 10th but eventually finished 11th o/a in their Auto Seekers Ni .com backed Mitsubishi Evo.

Mayo stages was one of Clive and Ian’s toughest rallies to date.  Stage 1 was cancelled due to snow and hail on the mountain stage. But on stage 2 the duo made a fast start to the rally and almost a fast exit from the rally with the car getting out of shape over a very fast crest into a double jump.  With the extreme weather they were struggling to gain grip and overshot a chicane on stage 3 luckily escaping any damage to the car.

After a few adjustments had been made at service, they got into a steady rhythm and completed the next loop of stages 3rd in class despite brake problems.  This was remedied at the second service by ‘Crozier Motorsport Engineering’ when they replaced the front discs which had warped.

On the final loop they were back on pace and moved into 2nd in class which left them 32nd overall out of 141 starters. Clive remarked that ‘a lot of experience has been gained from this outing’ and was well pleased with the performance of the Hankook tyres.  This result leaves them in a good position for round 2 at Monaghan.
